ELSIE B. WASHINGTON

Elsie B. Washington was a good friend and colleague, who gave me great help and encouragement in launching my writing career. In June of 2007, we collaborated on two articles on author Walter Mosely for Metro Newspaper in San Jose: "The Big Easy" and "Never Outgunned." I will miss her intelligence, her outgoing enthusiasm, late-night telephone talks, her love of our people both here and in the Motherland, and her eye and ear for great literature.
